Willow Stud
Willow Stud is situated in an idyllic and quiet part of East Kent. Nestled in a valley near to Canterbury and close to the M2 and M20.
Fred & Pat Joiner started the Willow Stud in 1971 – Pat has always been involved with handling stallions, breaking and schooling horses, also working in the racing world. Fred has 16 years in the Royal Horse Artillery. After many years of successfully showing, Fred & Pat decided breeding was what they wanted to concentrate on. Pat took on the main running of the stud, whilst Fred continued his profession as a farrier.
Cleveland Bay and Thoroughbred, Arab & Pony stallions stood at Willow Stud, then the decision was to focus on just the horses. Cleveland Bay and Thoroughbred mares were purchased. The aim of the stud has always been to breed quality stock with substance and bone that are able to compete in a wide range of disciplines. As the years go by and their goals have been achieved many times over. Recently, Dutch coloured warmbloods have been added to the stud. Fred & Pat gain much pleasure from their stock doing well and are always pleased when owners ring up and update on their progress.
